94% of retweets happen in the first hour after the original tweet. That bit of information is not surprising given the speed at which tweets scroll by in our computer and smart phone windows but it is still a disheartening result of a recent retweet analysis from Sysomos.
The analysis of over a billion tweets shows that only 6% receive a retweet with 94% of those retweets happening in the first hour. This might be a good argument for limiting the number of followers you have within Twitter. Ad each account accumulates followers each individual tweet scrolls into and out of view all that much faster and inevitably cuts down on retweet opportunities.
